Mr. Harman Singh Sandhu joined Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (erstwhile Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co) in January 2009 and is a partner in the competition law practice in New Delhi. 
He has considerable experience in advising Indian and foreign companies in relation to a whole range of competition issues in sectors, including telecom, pharmaceuticals, railways, steel, cement, banking, natural resources (oil, coal, iron ore, etc.), construction, oilfield services and chemicals 
Mr. Harman is involved in defending large multinational companies in high profile cartel enforcement cases in India, including the cement, paper etc. (representing ACC Ltd – a LafargeHolcim group company). Harman is currently representing Coal India Limited (a state owned enterprise) challenging abuse of dominance findings before the appellate authorities. On the merger control side, Harman has been instrumental in obtaining unconditional clearances in number of large transactions including Publicis Groupe/Omnicom, GSK/Novartis, Nestle/Pfizer and conditional clearance in the Holcim/Lafarge transaction. He has authored the India chapters of Getting the Deal Through: Dominance and Getting the Deal Through: Merger Control. 
Mr. Harman holds an LLM degree in competition law from King’s College London. Prior to joining the firm, Harman has worked with the Office of Communications (UK) and the Directorate General of Competition in the European Commission – cartels division (Belgium).
