Mr. Manas is a Partner/Co-Head at the Competition/Antitrust practice at Khaitan & Co and has been recognised as a Band 1 lawyer by Chambers & Partners the past two years consecutively. He has also been named as a leading competition lawyer by the International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists. He has over 28 years of legal experience in diverse fields of legal practice. He was previously a judge of West Bengal, legal adviser with the Government of India, and has more than 15 years of competition law experience, having served as a key officer at both the CCI and its predecessor organisation, namely the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (“MRTPC”). He was associated with the drafting of various statutory regulations under the Competition Act during his tenure with the CCI.
Additionally, he has also been a guest faculty member representing India in several international competition law and policy workshops. Manas is also the Co-Chair of the National Competition Law Council of the ASSOCHAM, a national level association of industry chambers & commerce in India. He regularly represents and leads several high-profile competition law cases before the CCI)/ DG, the COMPAT, the High Court of Delhi and the Supreme Court of India
